Eye Size and Colour
Volks no longer sells Zoukeimura eyes separately so you can only get them through FCS. If you plan to use other eyes for your doll, allow someone who wants Zoukeimura eyes to choose the ones they want and buy them off you when your doll arrives, or else pick a popular colour/size and sell them off later. Due to their limited availability, Zoukeimura eyes are fairly easy to sell. (Original retail price: 7,140yen. Market value: roughly US$100-$150, depending on colour and size popularity, though in recent times the market value has dropped greatly.)
You can order your doll with the eyes not glued in. If you plan to change their eyes at any time this is highly recommended. If you order them with the eyes glued in, they are glued in with hot glue, which can be difficult and time consuming to remove.
If you decide to have the eyes glued in, you can choose which direction they are looking in. For example: straight ahead, looking upwards, looking downwards, glancing left or right. (If side glancing, you can ask for a strong side glance or a subtle one.)
For size, you can choose from 16mm, 18mm, 18/9mm, 20mm, and 22mm. Please be aware that all Zoukeimura colours are paler at the smaller sizes but become gradually denser and darker at the larger sizes, so all colours will differ slightly depending on the size you choose.
Note: 18/9mm is a special size recommended for SD13 boys. The eye itself is 18mm in size, but the iris and pupil are the same size as a 16mm eye. So these eyes look like 16mm eyes but fit the slightly bigger eyewells of SD13 boys. This eye size also works well for MSD. Unfortunately, Zoukeimura eyes are not made in 14mm.
Note: Most dolls have a recommended eye size, but you are by no means expected to have to choose this eye size with your doll. If you are unsure what eye size is suitable for your choice of headmold, ask your shopping service. If the recommended eyesize for a headmold is known, it is listed on the headmold pages.
Note: Names used below are the official Volks names as per the 2008 LA FCS catalogue. Previously used names are noted on individual pages.
